1st October is the day that some of us return from our pilgrimage in Sicily (I say 1st october but we don’t actually land until 12.20am on Tuesday morning!)
No doubt I shall save my memories of Sicily for future sermons, much to the delight of many!

Spring finally arrived and with a bang! Baking hot sunshine and then dramatic thunder storms. The storms unfortunately resulted in the tragic death of an elderly driver on the Lichfield Road who was caught in a flash flood under the bridge.

I have just come back from clergy conference; the theme this year was “Hope”. A great deal of talks were asking “What is hope?” how does it differ from desire, for instance?
Most of us were in fact hoping for the weather to improve (was this hope or just a desire for some warmth?)

“A beautiful friendship” – that’s the title of our Lent course this year – a course using scenes from the film Casablanca to direct our thinking on our relationship with God and the world today and what that means for our understanding of the gospel.

We held our Christmas Fayre last week and although there seemed to be less people than in previous years we still made only £100 less than last year – a wonderful effort by all concerned and we thank everyone who helped both on the day and before and afterwards, all who came and everyone who spent on the stalls and refreshments all of which helped to make it such a success.

One thing I missed during my time without dogs was the daily walk around the Lime Pits. It may be a little daunting when it is cold and wet but the most of the time I can enjoy a gentle walk in an ever changing landscape.
