In our Gospel reading this Sunday we hear of Jesus cleansing the Temple - overturning the tables of money changers. The authorities have put obstacles in the way of ordinary and poor people meeting with God. To offer sacrifice they must bring an animal but only one provided throughthe temple authorities to ensure its pureness - and it comes at a cost. To buy the animal they must use money but only temple coins which are sold to them at another high cost - the equivalent of a day's wages.
Jesus brushes all this aside, through the raisnig of his temple (his forthcoming resurrection) there will be no barriers between us and God, he invites us all to walk with him.
