Lord of our journeys,
help us this day to have
eyes to see your leading,
ears to hear your guidance,
and a heart of courage,
that we may journey faithfully and find your way –
even when the path may seem difficult and dark.
Amen.

God of timelessness,
you speak of eternity
and the things that do not fade.
In all the busyness of my week,
the importance of small things,
may I find time for the things that will last for ever,
especially loving-kindness.
Call me deeper into small moments
where I can find the light of love in unexpected places.
Because you are always to be found in unexpected places.
Amen.

Sometimes I am tired,
or I’m preoccupied with other demands.
Help me take time, help me make time, for kindness,
so that rush can take its lower place,
and kindness can rise up.
Because you had much to do –
but made time anyway.
Amen.

Jesus, you were always ready
to hear the needs of those around you.
You turned to those who were used to being ignored.
I am sometimes ready and sometimes not.
And I am sometimes ignored and sometimes not.
In all these times, nurture my heart
so that I may seek you, and share you, all around.
Because you are all around.
Amen.

Lord, the Pharisees were offended by your words.
You could have been offended by the Canaanite woman’s words.
I ask that, as I go about my business, I will take the time to consider each person I meet as unique, special to you, and worthy of my listening ear.
May I not be offended just because something is out of my comfort zone. Amen.

O Lord my God,
you are worthy to be praised.
You are the Son of God who walks on water,
who mesmerises huge crowds with powerful words,
but who also calms a frightened Peter –
and you calm me and give me peace.
Thank you, Lord.
Amen.
