In thanksgiving

Merciful God,
we thank you that you are to be trusted,
that you are faithful and provide for all our needs.
When we feel alone in the desert,
that is where we meet you.
In the wilderness of our lives,
we can turn to you and know that you will sustain us.
We worship you,
and we thank you that in you there is always hope.
Amen.

Caring for each other

Lord of all creation, giver of life,
we offer ourselves to you.
Teach us how to give ourselves to others,
generously and wholeheartedly,
sharing who we are and what we have.
May we learn to share all the world’s resources,
so that everyone has enough
of the good things that you provide.
May we all rejoice in your goodness.
Amen.

Thanksgiving to our Shepherd Lord

Thank you, Lord, that you always had time for people.
Even when you were tired and needed a rest,
when the crowds gathered your compassionate heart
healed and restored all those who came to you.
Thank you that you are kind and caring
and lavish your love upon us.
Your self-giving love has set us free
to be the people you have called us to be.
Thank you that you are present
in the big and small things of our lives,
in the ordinary and everyday times,
and in the extraordinary and special times.
You never leave us or forsake us.
Thank you, Lord, our Shepherd and King.
Amen.

of adoration

Mighty God, we adore you.
We thank you that we can come to you
knowing that you care about each and every one of us,
and all our needs, however big or small.
You created the heavens and the earth.
You put stars into space and filled the mighty seas.
Your power and your greatness is all around us –
from mountain-tops to the intricacies of a tiny flower.
Thank you that your power is limitless.
We are so small in comparison,
but you love us all the same.
We adore you, Creator God.
Amen.

In thanksgiving for God's help

O God, all-sufficient one,
we give you thanks and praise that you are all we need.
You are enough.
Thank you that you love us so much,
and provide everything we need for the journey of life.
You didn’t promise that following you would be easy,
but we thank you that you care about us
as you do the birds of the sky and the lilies in the field.
You know our every need.
Thank you that your thoughts are higher than our thoughts,
your ways higher than our ways.
Thank you that when we come to you empty,
your arms reach out to embrace us.
Amen.

To know your love

Lord, it is so easy to be part of the crowd,
following behind others,
not knowing what is taking place in front.
Give us the power to make our way through the moving throng,
and the courage to touch you,
to receive that life-transforming experience.
But we also ask that you stop and turn around,
and call us by name,
saying those words that make us know
we are completely forgiven and unconditionally loved. Amen.

Prayer of Praise

Eternal God,
we praise and adore you for all that you are:
for being bigger than even our biggest questions;
for caring more than we can fully comprehend.
We praise and adore you
for your strength and your silence;
for your power and your peace.
We praise and adore you
for being in control and yet not controlling;
for being in the storms and beyond them.
We praise and adore you,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
we praise you for ever. Amen.

For the growth of the kingdom

God of mystery,
Sower, Saviour, Spirit,
we worship you;
and we ask you to give us:
eyes to notice where the seeds of your kingdom are growing,
courage to show them to others,
faith enough to help nurture them,
and a heart that delights in their harvest. Amen.

For the week

Lord, you have always been our host.
When you first came from heaven to the world we call ours,
shepherds and kings were your guests.
When you accepted hospitality in the homes of others,
you turned the tables and became the host,
feeding hearts and souls through your teaching.
When you came to the disciples, newly risen,
you took charge and saw to their needs of mind and body.
We praise you, Jesus, ground of our being,
ground of our believing,
for standing among us in your risen power,
host to the world that is yours – not ours.
Amen.

HRH Prince Philip

God of our lives,
we give thanks for the life of Prince Philip,
for his love of our country,
and for his devotion to duty.
We entrust him now to your love and mercy,
through our Redeemer Jesus Christ. Amen.

A PRAYER ON THE DEATH OF HRH THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH

For Holy Week

We give thanks for all the good things in our lives;
for times of celebration, when we share our best and give of our best.
Praise be to you, Father, for blessing us so bountifully.
We thank you for the one who had nothing,
who rode into Jerusalem on a borrowed donkey.
Praise be to you, Jesus, for giving of yourself so richly.
As we enter the gates of Holy Week,
may we embrace the celebration with all that we have.
Amen.
